This Saturday the MiT girls rolled up their sleeves and helped the Adaptive Services department of the DC Public Library MLK Branch clear out hundreds of old books on tape to make way for more tech savvy replacements. Split into two “teams” MiT girls and volunteers packaged and prepared the tapes to be sent to a recycling center in New York. Wearing festive purple gloves accompanied by a smartphone playlist to keep the energy up, each team worked together to ensure that proper procedure was followed to recycle over 400 books on tape.
Special thanks goes to our amazing leadHER chair, Jazmyn Singleton, for working hard to plan an amazing community service day! Our girls not only had a great time and learned about leadership and service, but they also earned community service hours that count towards their graduation requirement! Thank you Jazmyn!
